I really wanted to start sewing my own vintage inspired clothes. So I would be sure they would fit and it would be original.
I started with the project in January. First I found the pattern: Simplicity 5403. I'm not going to put a picture of it on here, because it says: "costumes for adults". Go figure. I just wanted a real circle skirt, so I thought to hell with it! Then I found some lovely fabric with a light stripe in green. What's it made of? Haven't got the foggiest.
The whole experience of pinning and cutting was fun, but tedious. After it was cut, I didn't touch it for a few months.
Yes, I was terrified of the sewing machine!
And then like magic I just really wanted to make the damn thing. So I did. My mum helped me along the way. Just because I know lessons would frustrate me. Not that the skirt came together without frustration, but that's the fun of it? Right?
Either way I finished it after working on it a bit every night for a week. And I'm really proud of myself!
I already started a new project this weekend. Guess what? I've already been busy with the sewing machine!
The sound of that thing is getting addictive!
that looks FAB.....well done you

ReplyDeleteFab well done, you dont need a sewing pattern for a circle skirt you know, just a drawing pin, a piece of chalk and some string ;)
ReplyDeletelooking forward to seeing your next project!
